Meet Renée Moore!

Renée Moore, a proud native of Fairlawn/Anacostia from the 1980s, is running for ANC Commissioner with a deep-rooted commitment to her community. Although she has lived in various parts of Washington, DC, Texas, Maryland, and Virginia, Ward 8 has always been home to her. Renée is a dedicated mother and grandmother, with her mom, daughter and granddaughter being central to her life. Currently engaged, she remains closely connected to Fairlawn, where her mother still resides.

A candidate of the people by the people

With over a decade of experience in transportation, Renée has served as the Outreach Director for the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, worked with the City of Alexandria and Arlington, and is currently part of the D.C. Government’s Office of the City Administrator team under Vision Zero Office. Her diverse professional background includes owning a marketing business and working as a nuclear chemist, analytical chemist, and marketing consultant for a chemical company. This chemistry background means Renée is a problem solver who knows how to connect people to create new solutions.

Renée holds a BS degree in Chemistry from the University of the District of Columbia and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. As ANC Commissioner, she aims to use her skills and connections to help residents get the services they need and deserve. She is dedicated to empowering the community to advocate for solutions that matter to them and serving as the liaison between residents and DC agencies to drive positive change in Fairlawn and Ward 8.

Accurate leadership is the key to influencing others.  I promise to execute my leadership status with innovative approaches to problem solving. I will also utilize all resources at my disposal to provide creative solutions.

I promise to be consciously responsive. To hold myself accountable to the residents of Fairlawn/Anacostia,  I will utilize creative ways to collect feedback from the public and stay engaged at all times.

I strive for a community where collaboration between residents and local government leads to innovative solutions and positive change.

Mission

My mission as your Neighbouhood Counsellor is to create a thriving, inclusive community in Fairlawn and Anacostia by addressing the needs of every resident. I am dedicated to empowering individuals and groups through effective advocacy, improved access to essential resources, and fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.

I am committed to creating a better Fairlawn/Anacostia for everyone, by tackling our hardest challenges head on.

Listening and Helping Residents

As your ANC Commissioner, I will be your dedicated liaison to the DC government. I am here to listen to your concerns and work tirelessly to address them. My goal is to ensure your voice is heard and your needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Cleaning Up Our Ward

A cleaner ward means a healthier and more vibrant community. I am committed to organizing regular clean-up events, improving waste management, and advocating for more green spaces. Together, we can create a cleaner and more beautiful environment for everyone.

Access to Food Resources

Everyone deserves access to nutritious food. I will work to increase the availability of fresh food resources by supporting local farmers' markets, establishing community gardens, and collaborating with food banks. Let's make sure no one in our community goes hungry.

Improving Transportation

Reliable and accessible transportation is vital for our community. I will push for improved public transportation services, better road conditions, and safer pedestrian and cycling paths. My goal is to make it easier for you to get where you need to go, safely and efficiently.
