Welcome to my first blog post! I am Renée Moore, and I am incredibly excited to share my journey with you as I run for the position of ANC 8A01 Commissioner. As a proud native of Fairlawn and Anacostia, my roots in this community run deep, and my commitment to making a positive impact here is unwavering.
Growing up in Fairlawn during the 1980s, I witnessed both the challenges and the beauty of our community. Although my life has taken me to various parts of Washington, DC, Texas, Maryland, and Virginia, Ward 8 has always been my true home. It’s where my heart is, and it’s where my dedication lies.
My journey has been diverse and enriching. With over a decade of experience in transportation, I have had the privilege of serving as the Outreach Director for the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, working with the City of Alexandria and Arlington, and currently being part of the Deputy Mayor of Operations and Infrastructure’s team under Vision Zero. My professional path also includes owning a marketing business and working as a nuclear chemist, analytical chemist, and marketing consultant for a chemical company. These varied experiences have honed my problem-solving skills and taught me the importance of connecting people to create innovative solutions.
As a dedicated mother and grandmother, my family is the cornerstone of my life. My daughter and granddaughter inspire me every day to strive for a better, more inclusive community. Fairlawn remains a special place for me, with my mother still residing here, keeping our family deeply connected to our roots.
Running for ANC 8A01 Commissioner is not just a political endeavor for me; it’s a heartfelt mission. I believe in the power of community and the importance of every voice being heard. My goals are clear: to ensure that our community has access to essential resources, to improve public services, and to empower residents to advocate for the solutions that matter most to them.
I am committed to being your dedicated liaison to the DC government, listening to your concerns, and working tirelessly to address them. Whether it’s organizing regular clean-up events, increasing access to nutritious food, or improving transportation services, I am here to make a real difference.
Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more connected Fairlawn and Anacostia. I invite you to join me on this journey, share your thoughts, and get involved. Let’s create a brighter future for our community, one step at a time.
Thank you for your support, and stay tuned for more updates and insights as we embark on this journey together.
